Back to the Chandler Era

Leadership at Sun Hill

There is no doubt when Chandler came to Sun Hill, he instilled change. But what was really the effects of that on hierarchy?

This useful little diagram is also used in THEM.Investigations, as it is a very good example of decisions the "longer" Chandler would not have made.

What is the leadership pyramid?
The leadership pyramid is a way of representing a hierarchy system in any given situation.
Group A are the senior leaders- those who have an exert the most power. In a corporate company, this would be the Board of Directors.
Group B are the those in leadership positions but below senior leaders- in a corporate company these would be managers and management positions.
Group C are the "minions". They are under guidance of the two above groups, and have no leadership.
These groups cannot cross over, but they can rely upon each other- C and B for leadership, A and B for assistance if the situation governs it.

Brownlow's Hierarchy
Brownlow was a passive leader, concerned with politics and left the day-to-day running of the station with his deputies. This meant that the Group A was more diverse in their roles and was ultimately larger.
Group A: Chief Superintendent Brownlow, Detective Chief Inspector Meadows, Chief Inspector Conway
Group B: Inspector Monroe, Detective Inspector Deakin, Sergeant Ackland, Sergeant Boyden, Sergeant Cryer, Detective Sergeant Stanton, Detective Sergeant Boulton, Detective Sergeant Beech, Detective Sergeant Daily
Group C: Detective Constable Lennox, Detective Constable Webb, Detective Constable Holmes, Detective Constable Glaze, Police Constable Page, Police Constable McCann, Police Constable Smith, Police Constable Worrell, Police Constable Stamp, Police Constable Hollis, Police Constable Calver, Police Constable Hayward, Police Constable Clarke, Police Constable Harker, Police Constable Hagen, Police Constable Klein, Police Constable Quinnin
Chandler's Hierarchy
Chandler came to Sun Hill with a motive- to clean up the station and it's "cobwebs". In this quest, Sun Hill's "new broom" took sole role of Group A, and was consistently in control of most departments of the station, much more so than his predecessor.
Group A: Superintendent Chandler
Group B: Detective Chief Inspector Meadows, Chief Inspector Conway, Inspector Monroe, Detective Inspector Cullen, Sergeant Ackland, Sergeant Boyden, Sergeant Cryer, Detective Sergeant McAllister, Detective Sergeant Sigh
Group C: Detective Constable Lennox, Detective Constable Webb, Detective Constable Spears, Detective Constable Glaze, Detective Constable Reilly, Police Constable Page, Police Constable McCann, Police Constable Smith, Police Constable Worrell, Police Constable Stamp, Police Constable Hollis, Police Constable Calver, Police Constable Hayward, Police Constable Clarke, Police Constable Harker, Police Constable Hagen, Police Constable Klein, Police Constable Quinnin

Post Episode 041

Post 041, now neck-deep in the Marquess Era, brought change to Sun Hill- and a reduced (and less effective) Hierarchy

Marquess Era Hierarchy

Like the complexity of the cases, roles were reduced and many positions scrapped. These were replaced with ineffective PC's, leaving Senior Hierarchy doing jobs that the positions probably they don't do in the 'real world'.

In some cases the replacements were highly ineffective leaders at that- who would be drowning in the paperwork of their own stupid mistakes instead of out making new ones.

Note 1: THEM asserts this is because of stress and/or personality alteration that such poor installations of leaders were made at the station. 2002's Superintendent Tom Chandler would not have made particular officers, eg. Sam Nixon, Acting DI. (unless of course pigs were flying outside his office window)
Note 2: List is for all people in episode 036 and their roles. Some officers may be missing, if an officer isn't there send a message via contact form.

Group A: Superintendent Chandler
Group B: Detective Chief Inspector Meadows, Chief Inspector Gold, (Acting) Detective Inspector Nixon, Sergeant Ackland, Sergeant Boyden, Sergeant Gilmore, Detective Sergeant McAllister, Detective Sergeant Hunter
Group C: Detective Constable Sharpe, Detective Constable Webb, Detective Constable Drummond, Detective Constable Glaze, Detective Constable Reilly, Police Constable Page, Police Constable Ashton, Police Constable Taviner, Police Constable Best, Police Constable Stamp, Police Constable Hollis, Police Constable Calver, Police Constable Tait, Police Constable Buxton, Police Constable Ashton, Police Constable Klein, Civilian Robbie Cryer
